The miracle of love

THE MIRACLE OF LOVE

Listen to the news, there is no secret, the world is filled with hatred, murder, divorce, raping, racial/tribal segregation etc. And you ask yourself, ‘what is missing?’ The easiest answer is ‘true love’.

The Bible proves to us that WE CAN’T UNDERSTAND TRUE LOVE UNTIL WE LEARN IT THROUGH JESUS – THE TRUE MODEL. Jesus was given to the world by his Father, He also gave Himself for the world. The Bible says: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life” (John 3:16) In Gal. 1:4 it says: “Who (Jesus) gave himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father”.

This is ‘true love’ - the Bible says:He gave himself for us (Titus 2:14),  for the church (Eph. 5:25) and as a ransom (what someone give in exchange for another as a redemption pricefor all  (1 Tim 2:6).

He Loved us while we were yet sinners, and paid the price for all our past, present and future sins on the Cross. It is worthy saying: You can give without love, but you can’t love without giving, and giving the best!

Jesus himself gives us A NEW DIMENSION OF LOVE, saying: “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust” (Matt. 5:43-45).

But the Bible goes further. It gives us what I would call: TWO MEASURES of true love.

One: To love as Christ loved us. Jesus says: “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” (John 13:34,35). He didn’t love us because we were good, or we deserve it or even asked for it, no! Are we ready to love those who seem to don’t deserve our love?

Second, we must be ready to give our lives for others. Yes, not only money, food, clothing or shelter, but ‘life’. The Bible says: “By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren” (1 Jn 3:16).

My dear friends, this kind of love is not sourced in ourselves, nor by trying to obey the law, but it comes from God through Lord Jesus Christ. He is the SOURCE. The Bible says: “Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God” (1 John 4:7). If we believe in Him and have fellowship with him, He would pour out his true love in us, through the Holy Spirit (Gal. 5:22).

The world is longing for such love. Love which is not self-centered, selfish, parading or puffed up but that which always aims at giving the very best for others.  It always begins with one person! And that person is YOU! Don’t’ only say it, but LIVE IT.
